Darryl Isaacs’ Heavy Hitters have started off the Woodland Park ‘Barely Legal’ Spring Softball League with a six-game win streak, but not everyone involved is celebrating.
“That team is filled with people that aren’t clients, lawyers, or even ringers. They’re just actors portraying softball players, the actors aren’t even portraying anyone that works in the legal profession. I swear their first baseman was in Major League 3 Back To The Minors,” said team captain of Becker’s Law Office Bases, Kevin Renfro.
Heavy Hitters’ first baseman, Scott Bacula, explained that they’re just trying to play the best softball they can for their team, “Ziggy over there can boohoo all he wants, I’m not taking any great leap by saying we could have put any team out there tonight and won the game.”
Bacula continued,”it’s ridiculous. They’re gonna complain about us using actors when the Kauffman and Stigger Hues have a CGI tiger batting cleanup!”
Isaacs along with other participating firms maintain that they are within their rights to use the actors in the league’s portrayals of games, “It just works better within the time constraints, and it makes for a more attractive product.”
The league office has no complaints on the matter as they themselves have a disclaimer on the league signup sheet that states “Your softball game may be officiated by other umpires at our firm.”
