Former Vice Mayor Jim Gray was spotted, once again this summer, at the AT&T store next to El Toro and Denny’s on Nicholasville Road, purchasing yet another iPhone.
“Oh! Well they just keep making new ones, so I have to keep buying ‘em,” he said to reporters outside who hadn’t even asked a question yet.
However, many of the same reporters were at the Castlewood Park pool earlier yesterday afternoon, and witnessed Gray gliding down the octopus shaped waterslide into the pool repeatedly for well over an hour before realizing, painfully, that his phone was in his pocket the whole time.
Staffers explained that while he rarely has issues with damaging his phone during the colder months of the year, that may be because of how he secures it, “When he’s dressed up he’ll usually clip his phone to his braided belt, but if he knows he’s going to go swimming he’s rather limited, and usually forgets to ask one of us to hold it for him.”
“All of this could be avoided if he swam in a bathing suit, rather than a pair of old cut off cargo shorts, he swears are ‘just as good,'” one staffer said. The staffer did not immediately respond to our question regarding how much tax money had been spent on bags of rice to treat the phones so far this fiscal year.
