HQ Trivia is the latest craze to sweep the nation. Two times a day users can join and participate in a live, nationwide trivia competition and the winners split a pot of money. Last night, one of the lucky winners was WLEX’s own Hayley Harmon. Harmon took home $11.43 after the pot split but Harmon says, “The money doesn’t really matter to me.”
The pride of winning is something that cannot be replaced, but hearing about the pride of winning from a coworker is something fellow LEX18 staffers hope to put an end to immediately.
“This is the worst day of my life,” Live With Lee and Hayley co-host Lee Cruse said. “We were just sitting there, waiting for the commercial break to end and she said something about a type of lizard being indigenous only to the southwestern United States and then she just chirps ‘I only know that because it was one of the questions on last night’s HQ. I won last night, BTW.’ She actually said ‘BTW.’”
An intern said that he too had heard Harmon casually mention her big win. “She offered to buy me a cup of coffee when I was getting everyone’s Starbucks orders. When I hesitated she said, ‘It’s fine, I came into some money last night because I won a trivia game.’ Then she told me to make sure I stay in school because being smart can obviously pay off. I don’t think she knows I’m 24.”
As of press time, LEX18’s technical team was still working to delete the app from Harmon’s phone.
