Yesterday, Governor Matt Bevin did what any pre-teen does these days when they’re upset, and released a sick diss track on Facebook Live. The Governor appeared in the video seated on his desk (classic bad boy move), and began his extended diss of longtime rap rival, the Louisville Courier-Journal.
The video began with, what appeared to be, a commercial for the Courier-Journal, “I don’t subscribe to the Courier-Journal, but you can get it for free online!”
A class act by the governor to plug the online presence of the state’s largest newspaper (it was unclear from the video whether or not he was aware that visiting their website also makes them money); but then, as with most diss tracks, there was a twist, Governor Bevin revealed himself to be an absolute madman when he held up an article from the newspaper’s website he had printed out like your aunt does with emails.
After his classic heel turn, Bevin began to sarcastically mock the paper for failing to point out a conflict of interest between the Attorney General Andy Beshear and those involved with the recent University of Louisville audit. The governor said he wasn’t sure the criminal examination of the audit falls under the Attorney General’s jurisdiction, this, just days after the Attorney General himself said he wasn’t sure if anything from the audit fell under his jurisdiction, which raises the question, ‘why do so few people in our government understand how our government works?’
The governor then started to get into the meat of his disses, however, for some reason, he avoided the obvious diss about the Courier-Journal being a newspaper in 2017. Bevin began his laundry list of insults with classics like, “You’re black and white, but certainly not read all over… unless you count online articles which I print out and read frequently until I reach the limit on that device.” He then dropped this devastating line, “This newspaper doesn’t have a prayer, which is sad, because all it needs is one.” He then concluded with a number of fairly confusing ‘Yo Mama’ jokes.
Sources within the capitol say that shortly after the Facebook Live stream ended Kentucky State Government IT came in to reprimand the governor for his continued use of full color printing when printing out the newspaper.
