Wicked weather hit central Kentucky on Wednesday, and many Lexington residents were frightened by the sounds of storm sirens ringing throughout the city. The noises scared some more than others, though, as residents of Andover mistook the alarms for police sirens before quickly remembering what part of town they were in.
“I’ve only heard noises like that a few times in my life,” said Andover homeowner Richard White. “Hockey games, Law And Order reruns, and the time I called 911 when that neighbor kid was outside after 7:30.”
Thankfully many of the mood-altering prescription medications did their part to keep the inhabitants from panicking.
“At first I didn’t know what was happening,” Susan Ivory told us. “I expected the worst. A home invasion, decreased property values, a minority family moving in down the street. Luckily I calmed down when I refreshed Zillow and saw my Zestimate had stayed the same.”
Not everyone was safe at home, though. Resident Lynn Nen began to worry as she found herself driving around in the middle of the storm.
“I thought my Honda Odyssey had me headed right towards the sirens, but I noticed they were still a ways off once I got home, or at least in my garage.”
