Yahoo Sports, in a last-ditch effort to get its employees to stop asking Jeeves if Napster is hiring, released a confidential report they obtained from the FBI which shows one company’s cataloged payments to college basketball players. According to what we found out about it via google search, the list shows details of payments to basketball players, which range from 5 figure loans to fancy dinners at restaurants by the mall.
It appears that some of the payments were made directly to the players themselves, while others might have been made to family members. The defense attorney for a player to be named later, Darryl Isaacs, explained what this list means for the players named in legal terms, “I see right here where it says cash advance for Fred Van Fleet, sorry Fred you might find it hard to deny that one.” Isaacs’ eyes turned back to the document and he continued to look over the document with a fine tooth hammer, “Oh! But look here next to other players it lists vendors like PF Changs and Payless. I bet if you dug a little deeper into it I bet those were benefits for the player’s mother or maybe a close aunt. Ooooooooooh where’d they find a Boston Market?”
The list included both current and former student-athletes. While most were basketball players at major universities, Yahoo decided to included BAM Margera on the list for some reason. Possibly because we were all still into skateboarding videos the last time we visited the website.
While some fans are concerned about player’s eligibility, other fans believe this is not a big deal. But the one thing that fans of all teams mentioned know for sure, their password is probably compromised since they visited Yahoo.
